Our best 6 antiaging Serums

Skin serums are oil- or water-based liquids. A serum usually comes in a small bottle with a dropper, or an airtight pump bottle and a person spreads a few drops over their skin. It is commonly recommended to use a serum to reduce skin concerns related to aging rather than a moisturizer or cream. This is because serums are highly concentrated and absorb more quickly into the skin. A person using a serum typically applies it after cleansing and drying their skin, but before using a moisturizer.

It is important to keep in mind that no skin care product can fully stop or reverse the visible signs of aging. Fine lines, wrinkles, and skin color changes are natural changes that everyone experiences.

Some common ingredients in anti-aging serums include:

  • Hyaluronic acidThis occurs naturally in the body and provides moisture to the skin, eyes, and joints. It is particularly beneficial to those with dry skin. It temporarily plumps up the skin giving it a soft and supple feel.
  • Vitamin CThis helps protect against sun-related damage.
  • RetinolThis vitamin A derivative can help reduce the appearance of crow’s feet and neck wrinkles. It works by stimulating the skin to produce collagen which is responsible for the skin’s elasticity.

Formulated with Retinol, Niacinamide, Camellia Sinensis Leaf Extract, and Sodium Hyaluronate this product helps to reduce the appearance of wrinkles and fine lines. Retinol helps the skin produce collagen which is the primary concern when it comes to aging. Niacinamide and Hyaluronic acid pair to hydrate the skin while reducing the effects of hyperpigmentation.

This product centers ginseng an antioxidant and adenosine that helps reduce and prevent fine lines and wrinkles and improve skin elasticity and firmness. This is another retinol favorite. In addition to the anti-aging benefits, this product can help reduce breakouts and clogged pores because it contains hydroxypinacolone retinoate. This ingredient is used for treating acne and can have a noticeable effect. It also contains jojoba oil which softens the upper layer of skin and helps restore the healthy skin barrier and has been shown to help calm down inflammation in the skin.

It contains retinol which is two steps removed from the active form of vitamin A - retinoic acid. Once converted to the retinoic acid in the skin, retinol is proven to be effective against all signs of aging. It improves skin cell turnover, helps fight blemishes and clogged pores, and can regulate excess oil production and even skin tone. It also is formulated with squalene which works as an emollient to soften the skin and form a protective layer on its surface without a greasy feeling. Also has jojoba oil.

This product helps reduce and prevent fine lines and wrinkles, improves skin elasticity and firmness because it contains ascorbic acid (vitamin C).
